It’s that time of year again. Your closet’s a mess, your gear’s outdated, and your shoes are begging for mercy.
👟 Your Running Shoes Are Crying for Help
Most running shoes last 300–500 miles, depending on the brand, your gait, and the terrain.
⚠️ Warning signs it’s time to say goodbye:
- Your knees or ankles hurt after easy runs
- The tread is smooth and flat
- The midsole feels “dead” or compressed
The shoes just feel different and not in a good way
💡 Pro Tip: Rotate between two pairs if you can. It extends the life of both.
⛽️ Fuel, Gels & Hydration. Check Those Expiry Dates!
Yes, your fuel can go bad. And no, you don’t want to learn that on race day.
Go through your stash:
- Toss anything expired or sticky with mystery goo
- Restock electrolytes, salt tabs, chews, and your fave gels
- Check water bottles for moldy corners (especially soft flasks!)
💬 Need recs? I’ll be sharing my go-to hydration and fuel picks in my IG stories this week, stay tuned.
🧦 Don’t Forget the “Small Stuff” (That Actually Matters)
This is your reminder to check the overlooked MVPs of your training kit:
- Socks: If they have holes or feel crusty, BYE!
- Sports Bras: If the band’s loose, it’s giving zero support
- Hats & Sunglasses: Clean them or swap ‘em if they’re stretched, scratched, or sweat-stained
- Watches & Headphones: Update the firmware, clean the straps, and charge them fully before race week sneaks up
And if you’ve been eyeing my Carleth’s Run Club Performance hat 👀 this is your sign. ☀️
